According to my research, Spears has been through two publicists since October. In October she fired her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnick so she could do her own PR. Following her child dropping and no panty debacles the higher-ups decided she needed a capable media relations professional. A "court appointed" publicist if you will. Sonia Muckle from Spears' record label took over. She only lasted until December, but she said that her departure from the label's PR department had nothing to do with cleaning up after the train wreck that is Britney Spears.
Now in the world of up to the minute blogs, posting Spears' crazy antics everywhere and at the same time that they happen, there is yet another appointed PR guru from her label trying to clean up behind her. All of this raises some questions.
Is the rehab really for her own good or is it simply a PR strategy to clean up her tarnished image? Rehab stints have become trendy as of late, but I think the $20,000 stays are more PR stunts than for personal health. It seems stars so self-absorbed that they think they can trick the public into being sympathetic and supporting them. I think though that Spears has gone too far and no amount of rehab or cute photo-ops with her sons can save her career. What do you think?

Hi! I was reading your comment and, as a PR and Marketing grad Student, I really think that there is always a way to rehabilitate the career of a celebrity as long as this person is newsworthy... And obviously she is!! She is everywhere in the media!
When you read blogs where people talk about her, you can see phrases like "poor girl," "it's so sad," "be strong," ... So yes, everybody thinks that she is crazy and sick but there is still a hope to restore her image because people still like her!
Britney is not controlling her image right now, everything she does is interpreted by the media... She first needs a spokesperson that would be trusted and credible to the public. Do you think of anyone that could do the job better than Osama that nobody believes in?
Then, She has to get healthy! She doesn't follow any social rules, she is on drugs, she has absolutely no self esteem. So first of all, she has to rebuild her own self.
I agree with you when you say that people should stop trying to give her excuses and try to make other people responsible for who she has become today.
A good PR campaign, in my opinion, would make her appear has a strong woman that has changed and take full responsibility for what she has done...
What do you guys think??? Is there any image management strategies you can think of to restore Britney's public image?
